THE DARKNESS DREAD ORIGINAL 2009 TRAILER

Below, you will find the original trailer for The Darkness Dread (c. 2009), shot by my now defunct film company, Weirdsville Productions. At the time, we planned to make The Darkness Dread into a full length film, but we didn't have even a semblance of a shoe-string budget or even a decent camera to shoot with. To that end, we created this trailer with the hopes of attracting investors. Needless to say, the ploy didn't pay off. Eventually, we scrapped the production and moved onto other projects. On the plus side, I was able to finally turn my script for the film into a novella in the 2018 anthology "Whispers of a Time Forgotten" (currently available for purchase on this website. Hint, hint).

I made some severe alterations in the rewrite, like changing the main character of Douglas Doillon from an ex-cop to a journalist/writer named James Raghnall (a much better name in my opinion) and the serial killer, Paul Delroy, from an eccentric millionaire to the owner of an antique shop called Paranormal Paraphernalia. My finished novella is a marked improvement over the stereotypical trite I concocted for the screenplay (what can I say, I was younger then), so I believe everything ended well for The Darkness Dread. I got to tell the story I wanted to tell, and, as an extra bonus, created a fun, if cringe-worthy (Oh God, my acting!), trailer out of the deal.
